Spying allegations
[edit]I removed this dubious paragraph ---
- Rothschild was recruited to work for MI5 during the World War II during which time he was in a ring of British spies, The Cambridge Five, who passed information to the Soviet Union during and tricked Hitler into thinking there was a chance for peace with Britain. John Cairncross, who was never in the same league as the Ring of Five (six), was added as a red herring to hide the identity of a still living number five. --mervyn 15:23, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Also corrected son's name to Amschel Mayor James not Mayer. --mervyn 15:23, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
In 1993, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, six retired KGB Colonels in Moscow confirmed Rothschild's identity to Roland Perry. Col. Yuri Modin, the spy ring's handler, went on the record. Perry writes:
"According to ...Modin, Rothschild was the key to most of the Cambridge ring's penetration of British intelligence. 'He had the contacts,' Modin noted. 'He was able to introduce Burgess, Blunt and others to important figures in Intelligence such as Stewart Menzies, Dick White and Robert Vansittart in the Foreign Office...who controlled Mi-6." (p.89) Roland Perry, The Fifth Man, Pan Books London 1994.
Given that, if untrue, this would be libelous if the subject were still living, I quoted the above more-or-less verbatim and then cited the Mitrokhin Archives as a contrary source. Fiachra10003 (talk) 00:51, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Homosexual
[edit]The Cambridge Apostles was known to be predominantly Marxist (as was much of Ox-bridge at that time) the members were also known to be homosexual. This is relevant especially being friends with Blunt (the recruiter). It is highly unlikely that he was not aware of the other spys, Philby's father was a raving Nazi and Anti Jew, enough so to turn his son "Kim" to to Marxism and a trator. Philby father was involved with the Saud family (also known at that time to be Anti Jew) working against the rise of Israel. There are just too many wheels within wheels the spy community at that time was very close knit.
ROTHSCHILD LIVED IN WELBECK STREET, LONDON WI, AND ...
[edit](1) He gave his flat for Burgess to live in (2) The Courtalds Institute ended up to be around the block (Blunt) Constantine Adraktas 23:38, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- Not clear what point you are making -- (1) according to his biography VR rented a flat at 5 Bentinck Street; Burgess, Blunt and others often stayed there and took over the lease from him. (2) The Courtauld Institute of Art was established in Portman Square from c 1932. --mervyn 14:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.
The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.
Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 05:19, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
SMOM?
[edit]Until I removed it, we listed Rothschild as a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, citing this American Protestant conspiracy blog. As far as I can see, there is no other source for this and Rothschild's membership seems... errr, ulikely, as you have to be a Catholic to become a Knight of Malta. He was a member of the British state's Order of Saint John (chartered 1888), which isn't the same thing. Claíomh Solais (talk) 17:23, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Amschel Rothschild
[edit]I have to agree with Charles01's position here and would also point out an inconsistency in the spelling of "Mayer" as against "Mayor" in Amschel's article and its supporting citations. Bjenks (talk) 00:22, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Victor's marriage to Vera-Ellen
[edit]Why is his marriage to American dancer-singer-actress Vera-Ellen not included in his bio? 174.250.194.160 (talk) 20:22, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- It was not this VR. According to NYTimes obit it was "Victor Rothschild, an oilman." This VR was not a bigamist!
VR as cricketer
[edit]Wasn't he a good second-class cricketer? I think he once said the most alarming moments in his life were when he had to face Larwood at one end and Voce at the other. Can anyone confirm? Esedowns (talk) 22:26, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
