Damien hirst's own site http://www.damienhirst.com/verity gives some detail, including a reference to the Degas pose. — Preceding unsigned comment added by U89djt (talkcontribs) 10:49, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

'Verity' is an Italian word?

[edit]

"The name of the piece refers to the Italian word for "truth" - er, I realise this is sourced, but surely the title refers to the English word 'verity' (truth).

The source is a tourist website, not an arts publication or the artist himself, and the actual text for the source is "The title 'Verity' is from the Italian word of Truth" (sic) which I think backs up my suspicion that this is not a totally reliable source.

Oh, and the Italian for 'truth' is 'Verità', not 'Verity'. --86.181.17.180 (talk) 10:10, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the consensus is that we have to take the tourist website's word for it and that the word 'verity' is not English, we need to rename WP:V to Wikipedia:Truthifiability. A working knowledge of Italian should not be required to understand the English Wikipedia's policies. --86.181.17.180 (talk) 10:13, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, drop that sentence. Even sourced statements can be a bunch of bull. We can't blindly accept everything on the Internet; let's keep our brains in use. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 13:51, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs a picture (or more than one) of its subject. Even asking the sculptor for one might work. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 13:53, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
