"TELINGA BARBER AND MALABAR BARBER: The barbers belong to the caste of Sooders(Shudra). They travel about in the town or country, with a small steel mirror, two or three inches broad, a little leaden dish that scarcely holds a couple of spoonfuls of water; an ear-cleaner, a small gouge resembling that used by joiners, for cutting the nails and a few broad knives with wooden handles, which serve for rasors."
