File:Colorado MKV-229.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Colorado MKV-229.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Other speedy deletions
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Colorado license plate 1958

Bluebird207, instead of just removing graphics and leaving a blank, how about replacing it with an actual image?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 17:41, 25 October 2018 (UTC) "Also, I personally would prefer images of *real* plates, even if they were samples"[reply]

Well then, WP:SOFIXIT, instead of complaining about someone else's artwork.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 21:52, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm terribly sorry to say this, but I stand by my actions.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist, you see, and so I *don't* want to see images uploaded that are *too* incorrect. Hence my preference for the use of images of *real* license plates (including samples) in all these license plate articles, rather than the use of images of computer-generated recreations. I only consider computer-generated recreations fine if they're not *too* inaccurate - which, unfortunately, can't be said for some of those recreations on licenseplates.tv.
I suppose I should tell you, too, why I haven't uploaded any images myself. Quite simply: I just cannot get my head around the rules regarding the uploading of images.
I've looked at these rules over and over, and they *still* come across as jargon to me. And I've seen other users upload images of real license plates that look perfectly innocuous and do the job they're intended to do, only for these images to be deleted because they're in contravention of a rule that I don't understand. I've even appealed for some of these images not to be deleted, arguing that the uploader had no intention of breaking any rules and followed all the obvious ones - but to no avail.
I've acted against the rules on Wikipedia and its sister projects before, of course - but I wouldn't be at all happy if I was deemed to have acted against a rule that was beyond my comprehension. Hence my continued reluctance to upload images of my own.

In that event, then you should discuss this with the uploader rather than remove things wholesale. Accommodations can certainly be made that would suit both illustrating the articles and your finicky streak.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:46, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Designer and Denim plates

[edit]

Hi,

For the Designer and Denim plates, actually and after verification it is not only issued in counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Mesa, Pueblo, Summit and Weld.

The other series issued for the designer and denim base are for others :

Alamosa X1E Archuleta Y1U Baca W1G Bent X1C Chaffee X1H Cheyenne Y1R Clear Creek Y1Y Conejos W1S Costilla Y1A Crowley X1W Custer Z1A Delta V1L Dolores Z1H Elbert X1S Fremont U1P Garfield W1M Gilpin Z1K Grand Z1B Gunnison Y1D Hinsdale Z1N Huerfano V1E Jackson Z1J Kiowa Y1P Kit Carson W1U La Plata V1V Lake Y1F Las Animas L1U Lincoln X1P Logan U1G Mineral Z1M Moffat Y1J Montezuma X1L Montrose W1B Morgan U1W Otero P1A Ouray Z1F Park Z1D Phillips X1Y Pitkin Z1G Prowers V1G Rio Blanco Y1V Rio Grande W1J Routt W1Z Saguache X1U San Juan Z1E San Miguel Y1X Sedgwick Y1B Teller Y1L Washington W1W Yuma V1S

I think that these 14 counties listed above are the most common ... and therefore, only those listed on BPRlicenseplates.

Note that the series are the same as the system from 1959, with addition of a number between the letters (for example La Plata VV -> V1V). There are however some exceptions, for example Adams who used his second series of letters (GA -> G1A) instead of the first (which should have been TE -> T1E).

Unfortunately, I do not have the list of all the series used but only the beginning ones ...

New solid color background plates

[edit]

I'm not sure what the best way is to incorporate the new colored plates? Information on them can be found at [What's up with Colorado's black license plates?] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbaenzige (talkcontribs) 05:48, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
