image removal

[edit]

If you don't like the images I post, WP:SOFIXIT, don't just leave the blank template, post an image of the thing.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 20:58, 25 October 2018 (UTC) "Also, I personally would prefer images of *real* plates, even if they were samples"[reply]

Well then, WP:SOFIXIT, instead of complaining about someone else's artwork.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 21:52, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm terribly sorry to say this, but I stand by my actions.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist, you see, and so I *don't* want to see images uploaded that are *too* incorrect. Hence my preference for the use of images of *real* license plates (including samples) in all these license plate articles, rather than the use of images of computer-generated recreations. I only consider computer-generated recreations fine if they're not *too* inaccurate - which, unfortunately, can't be said for some of those recreations on licenseplates.tv.
I suppose I should tell you, too, why I haven't uploaded any images myself. Quite simply: I just cannot get my head around the rules regarding the uploading of images.
I've looked at these rules over and over, and they *still* come across as jargon to me. And I've seen other users upload images of real license plates that look perfectly innocuous and do the job they're intended to do, only for these images to be deleted because they're in contravention of a rule that I don't understand. I've even appealed for some of these images not to be deleted, arguing that the uploader had no intention of breaking any rules and followed all the obvious ones - but to no avail.
I've acted against the rules on Wikipedia and its sister projects before, of course - but I wouldn't be at all happy if I was deemed to have acted against a rule that was beyond my comprehension. Hence my continued reluctance to upload images of my own.

In that event, then you should discuss this with the uploader rather than remove things wholesale. Accommodations can certainly be made that would suit both illustrating the articles and your finicky streak.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:46, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
