David Yu
[edit]My oh my, I really thought creating a Wikipedia article would be easier. I thought of creating an article about David Yu, the CEO of Ecomi. However, the first (huge?) hurdle is, that there is already a David Yu on Wikipedia... I'm not sure if this will be read by someone. If so - could you create another article about David Yu? I guess I could help (or try to help) by adding some data once one can choose which David Yu to pick. Cheers! VeVeMeister (talk) 22:18, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hey VeVeMeister, lots of people on Wikipedia have the same name, that's no problem at all. You just need to find notable references (new articles, interviews, publications) that mention David Yu to verify his notability. Salsakesh (talk) 22:22, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, that's a quick respond, thank you! I've got all the references you mentioned ready. Could you point me in the right direction how to proceed if I want to make an article about another person who's name is already on Wikipedia? While I am typing this I realised that I have a homepage and a mentor. Should I ask her for advice? VeVeMeister (talk) 22:29, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hi VeVeMeister, I've gone ahead and created a draft article here, feel free to add your content there and I can review:

- First of all - thank you very much! I tried my best, but you'll notice that there's a lot missing and probably a lot of editing is needed. It's my fiirst time, please be gentle :).
- Besides the LinkedIn profile and the medium articles there is not much known about David Yu. The first time I came across his name was when I downloaded the App VeVe in March of 2021. Since then VeVe became my biggest hobby and I dare to call myself a bit of an expert if it comes to VeVe and Ecomi.
- Yu is very outspoken if comes to communicating with the community all around VeVe and Ecomi, mostly on Twitter and Instragram. There are plenty of AMAs and community updates on YouTube, Medium articles and Twitter quotes, which I could refer (cite) to. I am sure, once he becomes aware of a Wikipedia article about him, he would come forward and fill out the blanks.
- In big parts I took data from his LinkedIn profile. I'm not even sure if that is allowed. I tried to cite accordingly, however since LinkedIn needs a login, this might be an issue.
- I was not able to add a picture in the "infobox person". His pfp from his official twitter profile would be appropriate: @davidyunz
- The community all around VeVe and Ecomi is quite large already. Chances are, that there are lots of people who are more familiar with Wikipedia, so they would probably get active if this article ever makes it public.
- Please feel free to change/adapt everything as you see fit. Please let me know if you need me to change something, do more investigations or even get in contact with David Yu himself. As I have a live interview with his head of marketing coming up soon, I think this could be arranged.
- Thank you again for this very nice experience I am having in trying to add content to Wikipedia! VeVeMeister (talk) 12:39, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hey VeVeMeister, thanks for submitting the draft.
- I'm an active VeVe user too, so I'm familiar with David's work.
- However, Wikipedia articles need citations from third party credible sources. These would be things like mentions on news sites, magazine articles, research papers, books or other publications.
- Unfortunately, social media sites such as LinkedIn cannot be used as sources (otherwise anyone could just create a Wikipedia page for themselves). Same goes for first party sources, like VeVe's website and blog sites such as Medium. Crypto sites are generally frowned upon in the Wikipedia community as well (too much shilling & scams).
- So there would need to be mentions of David on notable websites in order for his page to get approved. A good place to start would be searching on Google News for mentions.
- You can learn more about citations here:

- What are the chances, another VeVe user :)
- Makes all perfect sense, I'll do some adaptations and delete all the medium and LinkedIn citations.
- Thanks again VeVeMeister (talk) 19:39, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
