Petrenko's training
[edit]The claim that Petrenko "studied conducting with Ilya Musin, and later under the tutelage of Mariss Jansons, Yuri Temirkanov and Esa-Pekka Salonen" appears to be based solely on an article by Anthony Holden. There are two interviews with Petrenko himself where he credits Ravil Martynov as his principal teacher; in one of them, his "learning" from Jansons and Temirkanov seems to have amounted to observing them in action. But since this isn't entirely clear, I'll amend the text to say "Petrenko studied conducting principally under Ravil Martynov, also learning from Mariss Jansons, Yuri Temirkanov and Esa-Pekka Salonen".
