[edit]His nomination quickly ran into trouble as questions surfaced about his past as a Securitate informer.
1. There are no questions about Varujan Vosganian past as a Securitate informer. It's just an allegation printed in two newspapers; an allegation that is lacking, not only any sort of proof, but also any argument to make it plausible.
2. Also, there is no reason to believe, or even to state it as a fact, that this alleged episode in Vosganian's biography had any kind of bearing of the troubles with his nomination in EC.
3. Considering the precise moment a former high ranking Securitate member made the so called disclosure (during a high audience broadcast) about the alleged membership of Vosganian in the Securitate it is highly likely this was made simply to prevent his nomination as a EU comissioner for Romania. Once this "objective" was effectively torpedoed by the slandering statements the matter was quickly overlooked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.81.11.229 (talk) 20:12, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
"largest newspaper"
[edit]"Evenimentul Zilei, Romania's largest newspaper"
Where is the proof for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.106.52.55 (talk) 19:58, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I remember, that isn't Romania's largest newspaper. I think that title belongs either to Romania Libera or Adevarul. Meşteşugarul - U 21:01, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
Economic liberalism has nothing to do with the word "liberal" in the U.S.
[edit]The part in this article I'm concerned about is: "Even though he is a member of the National Liberal Party, and is a supporter of economic liberalism, Vosganian's political views can be characterised as right-wing conservative."
I am unsure how being economically liberal is in contrast with being a right-wing conservative. There are many right-wing conservatives who preach economically liberal policies. I propose we just leave the sentence as "Vosganian's political views can be characterised as right-wing conservative." The rest is kind of nonsensical (except maybe the "Even though he is a member of the National Liberal Party" part). Meşteşugarul - U 21:04, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
