costs

[edit]

I was interested in the costs of the tunnel and its hard to find anything as Vardo is a small village but it was the first of its kind and I found a source where tunnel prices per metre where shown in 1989 inflation adjusted crowns because the whole document is from (May?) 1990:

"The total tunnel-costs vary from ca. 78 000 kr/m for the Vardø tunnel to ca. 32 000 kr/m for the Flekkerøy tunnel. The earlier tunnels cost much more than the later ones."[1]

The length in the document for Vardo is 2620 meters, with a 8% max gradient and max. depth of 88m and a 46m² cross section(?)

2620 * 78,000 crowns (1989) = 2,043,60,000 crowns, today this would be "only" 9.182.740,85 US-Dollar, but inflation adjustment for the 31 years makes the amount significant higher, even today Vardo has only 2029 residents, means that the tunnel has more meters than vardo population, its not really that much, but without the oil wealth of Norway for countries as Estonia or so such a project wouldn't have been done... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kilon22 (talkcontribs) 13:30, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
