re Vanguard Productions: I can't edit the article as I am with one of the discussed companies but, I sure hope some conscientious wiki editor will make note that there is a Vanguard Productions LLC that is best known for their publishing imprints Vanguard Publishing, Vanguard Comics, Vanguard Press and Vanguard Frazetta Classics. After the original Vanguard Press was absorbed by Random House in the 1980s, Vanguard Productions LLC gained trademark rights to various Vanguard-related marks for publishing. In addition to adding a note to the Vanguard Productions page, it could also be appropriate to add an article on Vanguard Productions publishing endeavors as Vanguard Publishing as, there is no current article by that name. Please help as, by the current Vanguard Productions page only listing the old original film studio, it is misleading of other historical and legal facts. Below is some info from www.vanguardpublishing.com, and various press releases that are easily verifiable online, including the settlement of Vanguard's trademark infringement suit against Perseus Books for their use of the Vanguard Press name.

Since 1990, Vanguard has grown as a producer of illustrated, pop culture publications. Vanguard shifted from periodicals to mostly book publication in the late-90s, shortly before beginning their long affiliation with Random House subsidiary, Watson-Guptill Publications. Vanguard subjects include, art, fantasy, graphic novels, prints, science fiction, music, mystery, and more. They are also known as "the world's leading producer of art-book biographies on illustrators & cartoonists." Vanguard has garnered acclaim from The New York Times, The Village Voice, Time Out New York, The IPPY Awards, Starlog, National Public Radio, Video Watchdog, The Eisner Awards, Entertainment Weekly, Fangoria, The Society of Illustrators, Rue Morgue, Amazon.com, Publishers Weekly, Variety, The Locus Awards, Library Journal, and The Rondo Awards. Vanguard has a long history of exhibiting at major trade shows including Book Expo America, The New York Comic-Con and as of 2011, 17 consecutive years exhibiting at Comic-Con International in San Diego -- the largest comic book and popular arts convention in the world with over 130,000 attendees annually.

Vanguard authors and illustrators include the finest names in illustration, science-fiction, fantasy, art, and comics including Frank Frazetta, Jim Steranko, Harlan Ellison, Neal Adams, Michael Whelan, Wally Wood, Barron Storey, Bill Sienkiewicz, Marshall Arisman, Gene Colan, John Buscema, Donato Giancola, John Howe, Bob Eggleton, Don Maitz, Stephen Hickman, Greg Hildebrandt, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Wm. Kaluta, Carmine Infantino, Curt Swan, J. David Spurlock, Kerry Gammill, Basil Gogos, Rob Zombie, Stan Lee, John Romita, Joe Kubert, etc.

Vanguard Publishing, Vanguard Comics, Vanguard Press, and Vanguard Frazetta Classics are trademarks of Vanguard Productions LLC, which maintains a management office in Miami, Florida and a distribution office in Lakewood, New Jersey. Vanguard Productions is the only company recognized by the United States trademark office to use the name Vanguard for the publishing of books. In their Aug 18, 2009 press release, Vanguard and Perseus Books LLC announced a co-existence agreement ending a trademark dispute between the two companies related to the “Vanguard Press” mark. To resolve the dispute the two companies have agreed to a co-existence agreement wherein Perseus Books LLC may use the “Vanguard Press” mark. Vanguardpub (talk) 23:31, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
