Van Hohenheim
[edit]Should we add something about this man's last name and a possible connection to the real-life alchemist Paracelsus? It would make a bit of sense, especially with the four centuries old thing. 68.127.231.111 00:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's just trivia, but Hohenheim would be "high home" in english. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.56.189.236 (talk) 01:58, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
The correct Name of Paracelsus is Theophrastus Philippus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim. Not VAN. Hohenheim lies in Germany not in the Nederlands. 10:40, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Hohenheim of Light (FMA).JPG
[edit]Image:Hohenheim of Light (FMA).JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:50, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Seperate articles
[edit]I think this should be split up into two different articles: Van Hohenheim and Hohenheim of Light. Because the the only thing that is similar of both characters is their appearance and the Elric family. The character's histories and activities in the manga compared to the anime, are 100% different.
- There's similarities enough. I think this is why we simply call it 'Hohenheim' to be honest. I'm going to redirect both of those here. Tyciol (talk) 00:50, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Despite whether or not there are similarities, I don't think that each version of the character would be notable enough as separate articles, and also feel the discrepancy between the anime and manga versions of the character add to the notability of the character in a general sense. Furthermore, despite their differences: in the Fullmetal Alchemist universe these characters are the same -- right down to their appearance and relations to the main characters. It is only their function that differs.

SUGGESTED CHANGES
[edit]I'm in the middle of attempting to face-lift this article, but since I don't really have any interest in completely rewriting the entire article, myself, I was hoping for some help. I've added a to-do list above on the talk page to attempt keeping up with these efforts. Basically this article suffers from several issues: mainly fancruft. This article is absolutely devoid of ANY citations and references, and has absolutely NO secondary sources. I'll personally be working on my own subpage to test out major edits before submitting them to the general article.
Some of my more immediate suggestions would be to reorganize the article so that the Manga-related material comes first, and to be more explicit in pointing out there are differences between the manga and (1st) anime. In many cases the article refers to the anime version Hohenheim by default without specifying the alternative versions (another fault of fancruft, most fans are most familiar with the anime).
Anyway, just trying to jump start the cleanup!

I suggest someone reviews this and corrects the grammar and overall description, it's a bit fuzzy and confusing. o.o --189.170.36.122 (talk) 22:49, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
References
[edit]I put in a few, but I'm sorta new at this. Is citing the chapters themselves SOP, or no? Fragarach (talk) 19:30, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
