Small comment
[edit]Delightful to see this article evolving like this. One thing one would of course want to have is a sample or concrete letter forms, but maybe such things are hard to come by. Then I would also know whether the two additional vowels had Clear-script-like shapes, a question that just popped up in my mind when reading the article. - Images of charts and a writing sample are linked in the references and the external link, as well as being included in two of the cited books; in the case of one book I can see the chart, in the other it is blanked out as copyright - I'm not sure how much others can see. Comments on why to remove the picture
[edit]This picture does not describe Vagindra script. Therefore I removed it.
Please refer to the following links to find out how Vagindra script looks like.
- Material by Pavel Grokhovski
- Alphabet from an old book about the script: page 1, page 2
Even in the current contents of the article it says Vagindra Script basically has only middle form, which also disproves the picture above. --UjuiUjuMandan (talk) 13:21, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- @UjuiUjuMandan: If you know the picture is wrong, you should mark it so in commons:File:Buryat script.jpg. --Error (talk) 15:22, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Error: Sorry I do not know how to specify such information in commons. If possible could you give me a link to related introduction? --UjuiUjuMandan (talk) 01:42, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
- @UjuiUjuMandan: The easiest thing is to write somewhere in commons:File:Buryat script.jpg something to the effect of:
- This picture does not describe the Vagindra script. See File talk:Buryat script.jpg for an explanation.
- Then in commons:File talk:Buryat script.jpg, you can open a section with your arguments such as the links you have provided here.
- You can also move it to another category such as commons:Category:Writing_systems. I don't know if this picture is another script mislabeled as Vagindra or the picture does not make sense in any way.
- If you want to go a step further, you can try to ask for a rename of the file putting in commons:File:Buryat script.jpg
- {{rename|New name|3|your reasons for the new name}}
- 3 is explained in commons:Template:File renaming reasons/i18n as:
- To correct obvious errors in filenames, including misspelled proper nouns, incorrect dates, and misidentified objects or organisms.
- You should explain why it is obvious that the image is misidentified.
- If you think that the picture is not savable with a renaming, you can ask for its deletion. Read commons:Commons:Deletion_policy but I don't clearly see "The picture is misleading" as an accepted reason to delete. You can try a deletion request, though, but success is not guaranteed. You can ask for help in commons:Commmons:Village pump.
