The squadron name was not chosen due to all the moves due to BRAC. The squadron name was chosen from a group of personal within the squadron that included the CMC, one officer, and four enlisted. They selected the name from a group of names that were submitted from command personnel who wanted to submit a new name as Nor'Easter is a New England storm that wouldn't work for a name in Florida. Their only caviat was they wanted a name that would never change due to another BRAC or aircraft change if it ever happened again. The name Nomad was given up by the CMC, I do not know the other options as I was not a member of the group as I was not transferring to Florida. My name choice was Anaconda's. Anaconda's are not native to North America. They strangle they prey, I chose this as we used chains and cargo straps to secure our loads. I also chose Anaconda because they swallowed their prey whole, which the C-130 does by opening its tail. Yes this name might not have survived an aircraft platform change, but the logo looled cool with the snake wrapped around it that I drew up to go with it. So this reference to the name change due to all the BRAC moves is a false tail. Drew2872 (talk) 01:05, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
