Photo on the sub-section "1980s"

[edit]

The picture next to the sub-section "1980s," captioned "An F-4B intercepts a TU-95 Bear," is a picture of an F-4B from VFA-161, and unrelated to the article. The sub-section "1980s" mentions the F-4 only briefly, and when it does mention the F-4, it talks about the transition from the F-4 to the F/A-18 Hornet. I believe that this picture should be removed from the article for irrelevance. The picture can be found at

the picture file is mis-labeled VF-161. The caption from the picture, as well as the tail paint job and the other airplane markings ("VF-151" and "USS Midway") indicate that it is indeed a 151 Phantom. VF-161's colors were red and black. E2a2j (talk) 15:26, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

70.161.41.117 (talk)Concur. It is VF-151 in the Bear escort picture and markings of VF-151 can be easily seen if you go to enlarged view, however, picture of F-4B landing aboard carrier currently above that image is a VF-161 aircraft and details pf image and shootdown are correct except for squadron should be VF-161. —Preceding undated comment added 01:56, 23 August 2010 (UTC).

Corrected insignia

[edit]

I uploaded a corrected vector graphic of the insignia; as seen in this photo posted by the Navy[1] and according to the Navy's own history [2]the electron rings should be blue, not white. SixFourThree (talk) 14:37, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
