This article does not meet any of the four main clauses for notability for political parties.-RavichandarMy coffee shop 14:46, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, it should be noted that Wikipedia:Notability (political parties) is a draft proposal around which discussion is ongoing. Googling on the name (with different spellings) shows that the party is a force to reckon with and has been around for some time. This is misuse of CSD tagging, IMHO. --Soman (talk) 15:51, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Googling on the tamil name of the party, உழவர் உழைப்பாளர் கட்சி, gives 225 hits. --Soman (talk) 16:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, of course, Wikipedia:Notability (political parties) is a draft about which discussion is going on. But there are no existing notability guidelines for political parties and the only existing set of guidelines is under a routine review process before acceptance. While Google hits are an important criteria to establish notability, they are not the sole criteria either. So, unless, the search results are carefully reviewed we cannot come to any conclusion. Who knows there is a chance that a fairly large number of those hits are for blogs or Wikipedia mirror sites. Thanks.-RavichandarMy coffee shop 17:09, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, since the tamil name was added to the wikipedia article today only, the tamil google hits are not wikipedia mirrors. As per googling the party name in English, yes some hits are wikipedia mirrors, but there are quite a few newsarticles from notable publications which covers the party. Thus notability can be established. --Soman (talk) 17:24, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
