Merger

[edit]

According to the IUCN, M. silvatica is a synonym of M. ussuriensis, and in version 2009.2 of the Red List, M. silvatica no longer appears. I think the two article should probably be merged. --Stemonitis (talk) 20:43, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is some disagreement on this in the literature (cf. User talk:Ucucha/Archive4#List of Chiroptera). We could go either way, really. In any case, M. u. silvatica will remain a valid subspecies, so converting it into a subspecies article may be better. Ucucha 21:01, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it depends on how much is known about the two taxa. In their current states, I can't see much justification for keeping two articles, but if someone was to expand them, then it could make sense. --Stemonitis (talk) 18:07, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You could probably say the same about 90% or so of all bat articles. Perhaps I'll expand these ones a bit in a few days or so—I do have a few decent sources. Ucucha 18:12, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'll leave it up to you. --Stemonitis (talk) 18:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
