Categories & Templates
[edit]I removed the American Express template (& category) because her association with that company is fairly slight -- as contrasted with her very major association with Xerox. She serves on quite a few boards and could hypothetically have templates and/or categories for each -- which really would not make good sense. Cgingold (talk) 10:03, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- That may be, but I think that's an issue for Template talk:American Express. It is a navigation template, after all, the point of which is to navigate among the listed articles. If a user clicks on Ursula Burns from another article that contains that template, they will be at a dead end. Powers T 00:06, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- That is an interesting and perplexing point -- one which I've never previously had reason to think about. I don't recall ever coming across another nav template which listed corporate board members, and honestly, I'm not sure what I think of it. Have you ever seen one? As to this particular case, I think I would feel less concerned if the template could be collapsed so as not to give undue prominence to her connection with A/E -- especially in the absence of a similar template for Xerox. (I tried but was unable to collapse it.) Cgingold (talk) 12:07, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar enough with corporate governance to judge whether board members are a useful navigation criterion, I'm afraid. What I can judge is that not having it here while her name remains on the template is a hinderance to that navigation. Powers T 12:38, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Removed American Express template, which is so misleading as to rise to the level of an error. Her involvement with AmEx is trivial compared to Xerox. Despite the concern raised above, this does not seem to affect other articles that contain the template. Even if it did, the solution to that minor problem should not be to retain a much larger problem. Kirkpete (talk) 13:52, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
