This one's next on the list!

[edit]

I will attempt construction of the article soon, beginning with the single-stage procedure.PA MD0351XXE (talk) 08:41, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, here goes.. I've made additions to the "Urethral Stricture" article in order to help improve the flow. I did not take ownership because a few contributors did a nice job of compiling additions prior to mine. Next on the hit list was "Urethrotomy", where I attempted to make a concise, but thorough, understandable document. It took nine edits over a 15-day period to tweak into an effective page. Since "Urethroplasty" is the gold-standard with regards to the surgical repair of strictures, and because the surgery requires complex micro routines, I am going to attempt to be very thorough with the document, and this will take some time, so please bear with me! Many thanks, and please feel free to contact me should you have any ideas for construction of the "Urethroplasty" article. PA MD0351XXE (talk) 07:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

To all: My attempt at recreating this article was done with the intention of providing clarity and understanding to the prospective urethroplasty candidate. It is written using information compiled from international sources, and reflects the current standard of care in North America, South America, and Europe. Many thanks to Jmh649 for his assistance in making this behemoth coherent. Any errors are my doing, and not his!PA MD0351XXE (talk) 18:40, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Addiitional reference material

[edit]

Richard Santucci, M.D.

[edit]

These documents were blindly referenced in the previous article, and there was no reference material extrapolated from the information (used within that prior version). It is an impressive body of work, and Dr. Santucci is arguably one of the top three reconstructive urologists in the United States, and among the top ten worldwide. It would be a crime to not supply reference to this very small portion of his body of work:

  • MacDonald MF, Al-Qudah HS, Santucci RA (2005). "Minimal impact urethroplasty allows same-day surgery in most patients". Urology. 66 (4): 850–3. doi:10.1016/j.urology.2005.04.057. PMID 16230151. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |month= ignored (help)CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link)
  • Santucci RA, McAninch JW, Mario LA; et al. (2004). "Urethroplasty in patients older than 65 years: indications, results, outcomes and suggested treatment modifications". J Urol. 172 (1): 201–3. doi:10.1097/01.ju.0000128810.86535.be. PMID 15201773. {{cite journal}}: Explicit use of et al. in: |author= (help); Unknown parameter |month= ignored (help)CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link)
  • Kizer WS, Armenakas NA, Brandes SB, Cavalcanti AG, Santucci RA, Morey AF (2007). "Simplified reconstruction of posterior urethral disruption defects: limited role of supracrural rerouting". Joel Gelman, M.D.

[edit]

While researching the history of the previous document, it was apparent that a second reconstructive urologist's work had been referenced and deleted by someone, although of good faith and pure intent - as vandalism - who was unaware of the status of their author, Dr. Joel Gelman,M.D., also (arguably) one of the top three/top ten reconstructive urologists as previously referenced. Here is some of his listed research as applicable to this article:

Bioengineered human urethral tissue research

[edit]

The addition of the above posted reference material is intended to augment the information put-forth in Wikipedia-Urethroplasty. As of this writing I am researching the account of a laboratory grown human urethra, and the possibility of its inclusion within this article (re: the possibility of urethral transplantation with laboratory grown autograft tissue). For clarity, I have added information regarding the account of a laboratory grown human urethra in the urethral stricture Wikipedia article. For those encountering severe forms of urethral stricture disease, you may want to read the now referenced article. PA MD0351XXE (talk) 04:05, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
