Merge with Hindi
They are same languages and should be merged — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.222.180.90 (talk) 17:15, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Do you know both dear IP? If so, I'll ask you to translate some text in each. Looking forward to your reply. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:22, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- We already have the article Hindustani language that covers the overall language of which Hindi and Urdu are varieties. Stating that the two varieties are the same is like stating that American English and British English are the same. They're different, and enough can be written about the distinct histories and characteristics of each of them that we have separate articles about them. Largoplazo (talk) 17:34, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- The difference is much much more than between AE and BE, Largoplazo. The Hindustani language is an obsolete Wikipedia POV for Hindi-Urdu, being perpetrated because Indians cannot come to terms with the fact that Urdu is dead in India and thriving in Pakistan. It has been dying slowly since 1947, a little bit more with each new generation of Muslim speakers of its heartland. The POV pushers on Wikipedia, very few of whom actually know Urdu, are making their last stand, pretending, make-believing, dissembling: it's not Muslim, it doesn't need Nastaliq, it can be written in Devanagari, indeed in English. But look what happened to Custer. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 05:07, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
