Names

Per Anime and Manga's manual of style: "Characters should be identified by the names used in the official English releases of the series. If there are multiple English releases, such as both a manga and anime, use the one that is best known and that has contributed most to the work's becoming known in the English-speaking world (usually the primary work)." I have changed the main character names to match those used in the official translation on www.crunchyroll.com. 165.212.161.131 (talk) 06:12, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Tone in plot section is unencyclopedic

I have added a notice regarding unencyclopedic tone in the plot section. It reads like marketing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anymouse1 (talkcontribs) 23:18, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Naming issue

All right. Someone has been going back at reverting the official translated names with the manga scan-lated names. I feel that this has violated the manual of style, as we should always use the officially translated names. With that said, I am opening a discussion in accordance with the WP:BRD process to see if others can voice their opinions on this matter. Naming issue

I have been the advocate that has editing the names, I feel it is important to use the original work's translation. Due to CR's incorrect translation of the names. After all Jisuri is not a real word nor is it a name that accurately portray the character. G3 originates from Gewehr-3, Neither Ji nor Suri is a accurate name in any language. It's not English, Nor Japanese, Nor even German, "Jisuri" is the worst offender of this. Ichiroku and Ichiyon are at least actual japanese words that indicate a number. But they still lack the accurate representation of their real life counter part. The only reason for this to happen is a lack of research on the subber's part on the original material and the guns themselves when existing templates are already available in the form of scanlated manga.

I am sorry but your personal opinion of what the proper names are is at odds with the MOS for anime and manga. We use the ones used by the legitimate authority on the names which has been coordinated with the original producers of the show, in this case Crunchyroll. Basing editing choices on personal opinion is frowned upon on Wikipedia. Scanlations should NEVER be used as a source on Wikipedia. Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 10:47, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, this is not really a matter of personal preference but about the accuracy of the translation... CR incorrectly translated that AUG is from Australia while in the actual Japanese dialogue it's correctly stated as Austria, does that mean we need to put down the incorrect information on Wikipedia as well just because that's what the "legiimate authority" stated? Sorry if I sounded a little rude, but that's just what I felt--Wildcards (talk) 17:59, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Despite a singular, overblown translation error which is off topic for the naming issue, do you have any real arguments that aren't a logical fallacy that would override using the MOS? Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 09:33, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Crunchyroll, original producer of the show? Crunchyroll is no way original producer of anything. Their translation is neither original nor accurate.Well as accurate as the Aug being built in Australia anyways 9/7/2012 2:54 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.42.70.252 (talk) 06:54, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Nice strawmen, keep them away from the fire. Do you have any rationale that actually addresses the MOS concern? Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 09:33, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Episode 3 "What does the G in Jisuri stand for?" Genkoku, as seen from an example, inaccurate subtitles will make certain parts of the anime cease to make sense, What G is a part of Jisuri? G stands for Gewehr but where is the G? But when we go from Jisuri to G3, "What does the G in G3 stand for?" Sense is made. High lighting that the guns are intended to be named by their real gun counter parts and not made up names like Jisuri which is neither English Japanese nor German. 10/7/2012 EST — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.42.70.252 (talk) 18:51, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Verifiability not truth, oh warrior of the revert. If the official translation uses a naming convention you disagree with too bad. You still are to use the names that do not meet your opinion on the matter. I know. Rules are hard. Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 12:42, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
