Correct Pronounciation of Her Name

[edit]

For those of us who don't know Icelandic, could someone add the IPA pronounciation of her name? -- Jalabi99 05:23, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Venezuela of the North Atlantic?

[edit]

Three Miss Worlds for little Iceland? Reykjavík had better clean up their act or they'll get the reputation of "Venezuela of the North Atlantic" ;) Someone should really write Miss Iceland.--Pharos 08:29, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

is she of oriental ancestry?

[edit]

from her eyes and cheekbones i cudve sworn that unnur has some far eastern blood in her.

can someone verify this please? coz my curiosity is killin me.

I don't believe she is of Oriental ancestry; I saw a picture with her parents and they both look completely Caucasian... although they looked nothing like her, maybe she was adopted?!? Link: http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/imworld4/stars/fan/D20060108/2317_399879097_getgalimg1.php_H141021_L.jpg

Her father died when she was young I believe, that's her step father, I believe.

Yes, it is her stepfather.

No, I don't think she has any Asian blood. But her skin does look darker than the common Icelanders. Don't you realise that she has green eyes?

Her father is pretty much still alive and well and lives in Reykjavik.

Björk also looks quite oriental. Different degrees of epicanthal folds are not only common among Asians. 惑乱 分からん 23:56, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For starters, let's try to refrain from the term "Oriental"—it's offensive. Secondly, quite a few Icelanders have darker skin than we might think and do have different degrees of epicanthal folds; they are a very interesting ethnicity (they ARE an ethnicity). In short, I don't think that UB is of Far Eastern ancestry.

Miss World 06

[edit]

I am sad she will be succeeded in a short time from now, but UB will still be my Miss World forever. Fixmanius

What is the article about??

[edit]

I wonder whether this article is about her or the people around her, it contains a lot of information that better be mentioned in the articles on the respective pageants... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.144.231.186 (talk) 12:52, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mention her mother?

[edit]

Unnur_Steinsson also won in Iceland, and her article mentions daughter.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comp.arch (talkcontribs) 10:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unnur Birna's reign as Miss World was the shortest ever, which only lasted nine months since the 2006 edition was scheduled in September. During her reign, she traveled to the United Kingdom, the United States, Iceland, Poland, Sweden, China, Brazil and many more countries.

Miss World (1980). Gabriella Brum.

On 13 November 1980, Brum won the Miss World pageant in London, making her the second German to win the title, after Petra Schürmann. The runner-up was Kimberley Santos from Guam.[4] The following day, Brum resigned on the grounds that her boyfriend disagreed with her new obligations and she "wanted to be with Benno instead of flying through the world under a strict contract for a year". Later, it was revealed she had been forced her to resign because of allegations that there were nude photos of her.[5][6] In a 2008 interview with Der Spiegel, photographer Wolfgang Heilemann said he had taken the photos of Brum naked in bed having a pillow fight with her boyfriend, as part of a Miss World cover story for Paris Match.[7][8]
