Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Sprout (TV network) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 05:45, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I initially started a technical request, however, I did not realize that there are separate pages for the former and current name of this channel. Therefore, I propose that Sprout (TV network) be merged into this article. Universal Kids is now the current name of the channel, "Sprout House" will be the name of the block. While the Sprout name will not be retired yet, there is enough to merge both articles together. JE98 (talk) 11:49, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think they should be merged. They're sort of different channels, but UK replaced Sprout. I think it's alright to keep the previous channel separate from the current one. Hypnobrai (talk) 21:47, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Arrrgh, Sprout was supposed to just be moved to Universal Kids and the article updated (this always happens that the IPs ruin what should be a simple move with a channel rebranding!). Remove all the junk in that article from here and just move the UK content into Sprout and rename it. Nate (chatter) 23:21, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I polished Sprout (block) into a unified Universal Kids article. I also discovered that a lot of stuff was copied onto this article without attribution to begin with, so as it stands its technically a copyvio. ViperSnake151  Talk  23:03, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This will unfortunately require consensus due to WP:PARALLEL. ViperSnake151  Talk  06:45, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Support Not surprised by that at all; there needs to be a system with these network moves so that continues not to happen, just as it did TVGN to Pop and Bio to FYI in the past. It should take merely one move and pre-emptive semi-protection to get all this done. And of course this should have been what was done in the first place, so I support. Nate (chatter) 18:29, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And now Sprout has been moved again to Sprout (Universal Kids) by an editor with less than 60 edits. Stop moving pages! I've requested on WP:RMT for this article to be moved back to the original Sprout (TV network) title until we clean up this WP:PARALLEL, along with a lock on further moves. Enough is enough. Nate (chatter) 00:18, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Page has now been moved back to Sprout (TV network); request in at RFP for semi-protection to help this process along. Nate (chatter) 01:21, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

According to WP:SPLIT, "When two or more distinct topics with the same or a similar titles are being written about on the same page, even if they are closely related, a content split may be considered." I feel like a separate page for PBS Kids Sprout/Sprout would make things clearer, since there is a lot of content about the original channel that doesn't apply to the Universal Kids channel at all. This has been done before with channel rebrands that were much less severe than the Sprout replacement (like Toon Disney-Disney XD and Playhouse Disney-Disney Junior which all have separate pages). Even more, the Sprout brand was kept distinct from Universal Kids even after UK launched (Sprout was kept in use as the name for the block of preschool shows).

Advertised as a new channel, Universal Kids is a distinct topic, completely unconnected to 3/4 of Sprout's original founding companies (PBS, Sesame Workshop, and HIT Entertainment). Many sources also called it a new channel created to replace Sprout, not just a simple rename with the same audience like some other channel rebrands. I was wondering if anyone had thoughts/objections before I carried out a split (and expansion with more details about Sprout). Squittens (talk) 20:46, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now that it's been a long time since I posted this, I was wondering if anyone had any comments before I split out a separate Sprout page. As an added note, the official Universal Kids promos said that "Sprout is now part of Universal Kids" (when Sprout continued to be used as the name of a block on UK), showing once again that they aren't really the same brand. Squittens (talk) 03:03, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Removing the template as with the upcoming spinoff of NBCU's networks (though we know nothing about UK's fate), there's no need for any kind of spin-off (of which several attempts to do so out of process have been closed through AfD, either vandal or non-vandal contributed). And the two services are not distinct from each other. Nate (chatter) 21:40, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request to semi-protect this page

[edit]

This page has had some non-constructive edits and I feel like a semi-protection is possibly needed to prevent vandalism edits from this page. Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 22:26, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Revert "Sprout (TV network)" article to redirect

[edit]

There is no reason to split the Universal Kids article to make the Sprout article. Please revert the Sprout back to the redirect. 47.230.152.9 (talk) 00:39, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! It’s split again!!! Please revert the Sprout article back to the redirect! 47.230.152.9 (talk) 00:57, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this article still split again? The Sprout article should be reverted back to the redirect. 47.230.152.9 (talk) 22:42, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Relax. It's just an uncommunicative lone editor that is doing it, I'm in the process of filing a report that will hopefully but the kibosh on them. Zaathras (talk) 22:53, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, it goes on every few months or so, nothing to worry about. Best to just revert, report and move on; this isn't "Baby's First Fandom" and they know it. Nate (chatter) 02:07, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
