Ranking Minority Member? Republican Thad Cochran?

[edit]

Um, not that I particularly care but, was it really necessary to remove those two words?. Sen. Cochran is a Republican and the full title of the office is "Ranking Member of the Minority" or "Ranking Minority Member." Did a Republican editor feel slighted by such nomenclature?. Because I was just following the template of other committee pages:

"The committee is chaired by Party Senator of State and the Ranking Minority Member is Party Senator of State"

Hoping nobody would be that dumb or petty, I'm guessing they felt it sounded redundant since everyone "knows"(or is supposed to) that the Ranking Member is a Republican, which is the minority party. But in that case, why not delete that the chairman is a Democrat?. 'Cause everyone "knows" that the chairman is a member of the majority, which is currently Democratic.

Like I said, it doesn't bother me, I just thought it was odd. =D
