In the course of researching whether Joe L. Evins was chair of this committee or (as had been originally cited on its own in that entry) the House Select Committee on Small Business, I found this link from Congress' site:

http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=E000273

It cites Evins as chair of the House Select Committee on Small Business for the 88th-93rd sessions, and chair of this here committee for the 94th session. That, to me, implies that the two committees are one and the same, with the Select committee elevated to full standing committee status with Evins continuing as chair the year of the change. That, however, is speculation on my part as I have not found any hard citation for that transformation of the committee. I include this speculation here on the talk page in the hopes of providing fodder for anyone who knows for certain (or knows where to learn for certain) to submit that information either here (if a pointer to the correct information) or on the entry itself (if in possession of the correct information).
