Superfund Site

[edit]

Shouldn't there be somthing in here aboud how this is a Superfund site... Curtis Bay Coast Guard Yard Superfund. Wxweenie91 18:21, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed at least some of the military-speak. Some of the formatting, some of the capitilization. Still the whole thing is an obvious cut and paste from the yard's own [1]. I presume this is a massive copyright violation

Actually, it's not, since the original is automatically in the public domain as a US government production; I've added the required tag in the references section that covers the issue so that it's clear this isn't plagiarism. However... Qwyrxian (talk) 23:40, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

...since the article was copied from a USG source, it is, not surprisingly, overly promotional of its subject. Sentences like "It is the service's sole shipbuilding and major repair facility, and an essential part of the Coast Guard's core industrial base and fleet support operation. The centennial history of the Coast Guard Yard heralds scores of success stories and recognizes the shipyard's vital contributions to the United States coast guard during the past 100 years." are unduly promotional and need to be sourced (independently) and rewritten in a neutral tone. I'm going to remove those two sentences, but the rest of the article needs to be scrubbed. It's also possible that there is too much information--we don't need to provide the same level of detail as the USCGY website. However, I leave that work and those decisions up to interested editors.
