[edit]I found this gem under 'facts'
U.S. Cellular is by far the top selling agent of U.S. Cellular because of their outstanding customer service and dedication to providing the ideal customer experience. They walk in your shoes.
It has been promptly deleted.
-That's just golden. LOL
- LOL, people really get passionate about US Cellular. Probably because the other cell phone companies are so shitty. Hanxu9 (talk) 13:22, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Future of Speedtalk
[edit]Speedtalk will be discontinued as a service to be sold to the end consumer as of April 1st. How should this be handled in the article?
Fair use rationale for Image:Uscclogo.jpg
[edit]Image:Uscclogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Buildings
[edit]Sould we have a section about the buildings sponsored by U.S. Cellular? One example would be the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.213.112.39 (talk) 13:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Billing issues
[edit]WISC-TV (the Madison, WI CBS affiliate) reports that the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has been investigating US Cellular for complaints filed regarding their billing system. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also covered this incident as well. I see no mention of this situation in the article, as it lasted for quite a bit of time. I'm not really the best at editing the wikispace, so just for the next person looking to improve the article. --KRAPENHOEFFER! TALK 16:08, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 15 October 2024
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. consensus to move to the alternative which appears to have been the longstanding title. Preference appears to be for U.S. (with periods) by both participants and supported using the discussed sources. (closed by non-admin page mover) Bobby Cohn (talk) 23:30, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
United States Cellular Corporation → UScellular – The company is doing business as UScellular. The name UScellular, the former name U.S. Cellular, and the stylization US Cellular, are all more commonly used in regular usage and reputable sources than its corporate name. The articles for other telecom companies, including AT&T, EchoStar, and Verizon do not use the full corporate name as the article titles. 2018rebel 03:19, 15 October 2024 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). 162 etc. (talk) 17:01, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
Replies from the technical request:
- While I think a move of some sort is probably justified, I'm not certain that using the "UScellular" styling is appropriate. Reputable sources seem to more often just use "US Cellular" or "U.S. Cellular", e.g. [1][2] — Amakuru (talk) 10:17, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I think "U.S. Cellular" is the most valid name, while "UScellular" as seen in the company logo is just a stylization. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:21, 15 October 2024 (UTC)- @2018rebel Google Trends shows a clear preference for "US Cellular". Google nGrams also shows a preference for abbreviating "United States" and has no results for "UScellular" without the space, but doesn't distinguish between "US" and "U.S.". --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 13:23, 15 October 2024 (UTC)- I was reconsidering my previous comment when Ahecht replied. On further consideration, it is important to note that the company is now calling itself "UScellular" as seen in internal documents, such as those used in footnotes 1 and 9 of the article. I recommend going with that, because a WP:COMMONNAME analysis will be a real mess with sources in the business press using "U.S." and "US" inconsistently with various use of spacing too. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:26, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Given Ahecht's analysis, and per MOS:TM it now seems clear to me, per your original struck comment, that we should move to US Cellular. Per WP:OFFICIALNAMES we have no obligation to "note that the company is now calling itself UScellular" in the title, and indeed we should not in this case, though of course we can note that stylization in the article itself. — Amakuru (talk) 13:35, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't say we had an "obligation" but recommended using what the company calls itself because there will likely be confusion over "US" vs. "U.S." and whether or not to use a space, due to inconsistent sources in the business press. That argument has already begun. In fact, a vote below places credence in a spelling used in a CNBC report but ignores equally reliable sources that use something different. Oh well, good luck with the upcoming purely bureaucratic decision that someone is going to have to make in an arbitrary fashion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 21:27, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

- Comment The article was at the stable title U.S. Cellular until an undiscussed move in 2023. Current title fails WP:COMMONNAME. 162 etc. (talk) 17:00, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Move back to U.S. Cellular: Some recent sources (e.g. here) still use "U.S. Cellular", which seems better aligned with MOS:TM. The NGram data above shows a clear preference for "U.S. Cellular". — BarrelProof (talk) 18:29, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment, this clearly should be moved. The last piece of national news coverage seemed to generally be using U.S. Cellular so that would probably be my preference. Esolo5002 (talk) 05:49, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
