History

[edit]

The often confusing, violent history of the USC needs a better cut at it. There are the following stages:

  • 1988–1991 foundation to the overthrow of of Siad Barre
  • 1991–1992 Mohammed Aidid vs. Ali Mahdi Mohammed until the foundation of the USC/SNA
  • 1992–1995 USC during the UN interventions
  • 1995–1998 USC vs. SNA until the reconciliation
  • 1998–2001 Infighting between Ali Mahdi and Musa Sudi Yalahow
  • 2001–2003 Infighting between Musa Sudi Yalahow (SRRC) vs. Omar Finish (TNG)
  • 2004–present USC in context of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG)
I inserted the timeline above. People might want to see if we can get better citations in the text highlighting each of these periods. --Petercorless 05:37, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Present status

[edit]

Presently, it is even unclear whether the USC, as an entity, exists in anything more than name, or whether the name is simply perpetuated by the individual warlords. Anyone have a clear picture on where the USC, as a military or political entity, stands in 2007? --Petercorless 05:36, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
