What's going on here?
[edit]The title of the page is Union of Soviet Composers. Many pages referring to that Soviet-era body link here (such as Tikhon Khrennikov). But the page is entirely about the Union of Composers of the Russian Federation, which seems to be some sort of successor entity.
All content referring to the political role of the Soviet-era Union seems to have been removed by user Unioncomposersrussia in 2016. Nothing remains here to suggest that any Composer's Union existed before 1960. The page does not even mention Khrennikov, who was General Secretary from 1948 to 1991.
I suggest that we simply revert to the version of 10 April 2016, and I shall implement this (in a month or so) unless there are objections. JBritnell (talk) 03:26, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- This looks a sensible suggestion and various articles referring to the pre-1960 Union link to this page, so I'm not sure why this was never implemented. Can anyone give a good reason why we shouldn't revert to 10 April 2016 or a similar version, as suggested? Hyperman 42 (talk) 22:53, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- In fact, looking further at the April 2016 version, it has various flaws including material without clear sourcing, but it does fill a significant gap in the present article. Some of this material could be incorporated, which would make sense of the overall article. Hyperman 42 (talk) 23:00, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- Just briefly scanning the article, WP:TNT looks like a viable option here... Toccata quarta (talk) 04:51, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
Schnittke's years
[edit]The list titled "Members" includes Alfred Schnittke, whose years are listed as "1932-1990". However, Schnittke was born in 1934. He must have been a genius to become a member two years before his birth! Death Bredon (talk) 12:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- This article has a lot of problems, unfortunately, not least which is its mistaken conflation of the USSR Union of Composers and the RSFSR Union of Composers; two related, but separate organizations. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 20:29, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
