Quotes

[edit]

Some hopefully relevant quotes:

  • "bypassing his expected successor and underboss" p. 82 "Underboss: Sammy the Bull Gravano's Story of Life in the Mafia"; This verifies that underboss'es are considered to be the successors of their bosses.

No, this just means that this particular underboss was the expected successor.--216.208.232.174 (talk) 15:56, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "As consigliere and then underboss, I wasn't supposed to be doing these hits or getting into the details of them." p. 250 (same book) (a direct quote in the book).
  • ""As underboss, I was to go on the lam and run the family for him" p. 265

Hope this helps. JesseW, the juggling janitor 19:09, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

While someone with more expert knowledge of published works on the mafia may be able to find more, I have not been able to find a source independant of Sammy Gravano which mentions the term "underboss", so I'm doubtful if this passes the primary notability criteria, that of multiiple indendpent publishing in different sources. 'Consiligneri'

[edit]

Who put this after 'Underboss'? I assume its supposed to say consigliere? And if it is supposed to, why would someone infer they're the same thing? A consigliere is an advisor to the boss, usually not even a member of cosa nostra in the sense that Underbosses etc. are. Jonomacdrones 19:16, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is believed that at near the end of Carlo Gambinos rein as boss that both Aniello Dellacroce and Paul Castellano were Underbosses to Gambino User:pablopink October 10, 2007
