Whether to merge with Ouray County

[edit]

Uncompaghre County was merely a temporary renaming of Ouray County, but it is also one of only six defunct Colorado counties. See Colorado counties. I think Uncompaghre County deserves its own article as a historical footnote. --Buaidh 02:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uncompaghre County actually lasted twice as long as the late Carbonate County, Colorado. --Buaidh 03:22, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be better merged and redirected, as no borders changed, only the name for 4 days. --MattWright (talk) 00:45, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We could also merge all British monarchs into Elizabeth II. I don't think it hurts to let historic entities have their own article. --Buaidh 20:58, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the Spelling of Un-Com-Pah-Gre

[edit]

Uncompahgre is misspelled everywhere on this page, including the title of the page. This misspelling has propagated to the Ouray County Wikipedia page, and to numerous citations of that page on the Web. I went to Laws Passed at the Fourth Session of the General Assembly of the State of Colorado (1883) source. It is clear that the correct spelling is Uncompahgre. It is beyond my skills to change the name of a page and to track all references to that page in Wikipedia, so I leave it to others to make this change if they wish.
