Proposition to merge into the FFVI characters list.

[edit]

He may be one of the playable characters, but unlike any and all main PCs in FFVI, he has no backstory, no frontstory and there is literally next to nothing known about him other than his attack information, being a yeti and being Mog's servent. Leo is more deserving of an article than Umaro. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Simply put, if all the other playable characters get their own page, so should Umaro. If nothing else but for consistency's sake, I feel that he should keep his own page. -Platypus Man | Talk 00:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In all intents and purposes, Banon is a playable character.
If a random NPC in FFVI became playable, would that outweigh the fact that he lacks any personality, background or frontground whatsoever? - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:00, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it would. However, Banon is a bit different. He is only there temporarily in a story-related event. I couldn't use him afterwards even if I wanted to. Umaro, regardless of his personal status, is a playable character just as much as any other character is. There isn't a whole lot of background on Gau (I know there is some), but would you consider doing the same with him? I say that, rather than being forced to draw the line on how much information and backstory a page must have to be it's own page, all of the major playable characters get their own page, including Umaro. Since Banon is not a major playable character, he doesn't need his own page, but if enough information could be gathered, I'm not against him getting his own page. -Platypus Man | Talk 12:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But again, that's not necessarily a reason for a character to have an article. Umaro has little to discuss about him. He's a yeti that lives in Narshe that is owned by Mog. What else can you say about him? Unlike the other pages, Umaro's page is almost exclusively about how he performs in battle, and thusly reads pretty much as a character guide, which it really shouldn't. Banon isn't notable enough to get his own article, but not only would it have more content, I have a feeling that just as much, if not more people know about Banon than Umaro, especially how they perform in battle. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know. I get where you're coming from: the amount of information doesn't allow for a single page, so the information should be merged to the character list. But, to me, it does not seem right if someone is going through all of the FF6 characters' pages and finds that Umaro, and Umaro alone, should only have a section on the character list. What about Gogo? His page doesn't have much more relevant story information than Umaro's. If you must merge the page, then do it. However, I would love to see this page stay intact and here, at Umaro. -Platypus Man | Talk 12:53, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have "dreams" of merging Gogo. However, Umaro is just the first step - Gogo has something. Gogo has that whole "who is Gogo?" thing. But Umaro is easier - he has literally nothing to discuss about him except for gameplay and the fact that he serves Mog in Narshe. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
