Have updated the information about his son as Thomas de Maizière was promoted as Minister in early November 2009. Further, I added the information about his brother Clement as this explains why the nephew of him was last Prime Minister of East Germany while Ulrich was the highest ranked General of the West German Bundeswehr in the 60ies. This family somehow managed to make an impressive carrier in three systems of Germany (Nazi-era, Communist era, east, and Democratic system, west).
