Years

[edit]

Boat's WWII history would be a lot easier to follow if dates included years - like "Triton made a training cruise to Midway from 30 August to 15 September...." would be more helpful as "Triton made a training cruise to Midway from 30 August to 15 September, 1941..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.50.90.64 (talk) 05:20, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Material based on self-published sources

[edit]

The rumors that Triton was sunk by friendly fire are noted in this article. These are based on what appear to be self-published sources, which are usually unacceptable at Wikipedia Self-published sources. Please chime in if you disagree. Otherwise I'll delete this material. For archival purposes: here are the questionable sources:

  • Nevitt, Allyn D. (1998). "Who Sank the Triton?". Long Lancers. Combinedfleet.com. Retrieved 2008-05-26.
  • Dunn, Peter. "US NAVY SUBMARINE USS TRITON (SS-201) OPERATED OUT OF BRISBANE SUBMARINE BASE DURING WW2". www.ozatwar.com. Retrieved 20 May 2013.

Moved these sources to "External links". Deleted these speculations from the article's body. Easchiff (talk) 12:20, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
