According to an entry on the B1 Bomber page, the Russell was involved in the Rescue of a downed B1 bomber crew from the Indian Ocean. Perhaps that can be added to this page? -- Commking 19 Sep 2005

Capitalizatoin

[edit]

This may seem like splitting hairs, but the names of military ships are always in all capital letters. It should properly be USS RUSSELL (DDG-59). Emry (talk) 21:58, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ship names on Wikipedia are italicized, not all caps. USS Russell or use the {{USS}} template USS Russell or just Russell to link to the article page from other pages. Even the USN style guide has departed from all caps. USN Style guide (see ship names). The USN guide apparently has also removed the "-" in the hull number to just (DDG 59), but wikipedia would have to move and change several thousand pages to implement that. WP:Ships is the place where you can get other answers from other editors of ship articles. --Dual Freq (talk) 22:39, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough for me. :-) P.S. It is easy to miss updates to the rules. :) I should have did some Googling before commenting. Emry (talk) 23:37, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
