There is some disagreement with the cited sources about the timeline of events. The Navy Times article (the one that is cited the most) says that the sandwich incident with Avinger on October 11 was the flashpoint. Meanwhile, the Special Subcommittee Report states that the trigger was when "the ship's investigator called a black sailor to his office for questioning about his activities in the Subic Bay" on October 12 at 7 PM, which isn't even mentioned in this article. Troubled Waters makes it sound like the rioting started on October 12, but a lot of that book is not available for preview, so I can't see what it says about things that happened before then. —howcheng {chat}17:17, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
