Revolutionary War privateer
[edit]Does anyone know if this was the same Fair American which fought as an American privateer during the Revolution? A Google Books search yields a bunch of sources describing a 14, 16, or 20 gun schooner called the Fair American: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 --Fullobeans (talk) 19:17, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's not. That Fair American, of which there is a model at the Naval Academy, was larger and square-rigged, not a schooner. Also, ships of that type rarely survived in fighting condition for 30 years. Stan (talk) 21:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
