July 2009
The yard period before the current Persian Gulf deployment was compressed from 12-18 months into six months by conducting repairs both day and night. This is the shortest yard period for a Nimitz Class ship, a nuclear surface vessel, and any carrier in history.
The CAG (Carrier Air Wing Seven) Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Jeffery Garber passed in his sleep of a heart attack during the current deployment. I am not certain of the date, but I am sure the information can be found with a quick google search. Also during the current deployment the Eisenhower was the first "Super-Carrier" to ever pull pierside in Bahrain, during this port visit the King of Bahrain was invited onboard, and a reception held in the hangar.
A day prior to the ship's visit to Lisbon, Portugal a NATO summit was held in the hangar bay. Although I do not know the exact details of what went on as most of the crew was restricted from participation I can say that the Strike Group Eight commander thought this event was quite a success.
I am ship's company onboard the Ike and can vouch for the reliability of this info and I am certain most of it can be verified by conducting a quick Google search.
Ike CO - Captain Dee L. Mewbourn (aviator) Ike XO - Captain Ted Williams (aviator)
I will post more info as I recall it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.56.129.194 (talk) 22:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

2005 RCOH - left shipyard under tow?
That sounds kind of serious - perhaps amplification could explain how CVN could be returned to fleet without some sea trials under its own power; was the overhaul not yet completed, or had the navy/private shipyard decided to make room for other ships at the outfitting pier and drydocks? 144.183.224.2 (talk) 23:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
How tall, how long?
Came here to learn how far it is from deck to water, didn't even learn how tall the whole thing is. I did learn the overall length is 332 and 340 metres, though that sounds impossibly fishy. Some numbers on the first bit and clarity on the second would be useful here. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:24, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
I added a keel to mast height and removed the longer overall length, per this. Can't seem to find deck to keel. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:32, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Say what now?
Article sez:
- Dwight D. Eisenhower was initially assigned to the United States Atlantic Fleet, and, after receiving over a year of training during the spring of 1978, [...]
So I have two questions: (1) how do you train a ship? and (2) how do you do it for more than a year in a single spring?
I'm really not sure what the text is trying to say. Maybe there's a missing comma after "training"? That would answer question (2), though it wouldn't be ideal sentence structure in any case. Doesn't help question (1) much, though.
Can someone fix this? --Trovatore (talk) 10:24, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

2012 Deployment
The entire 2012 deployment is missing from the 2010s section. It goes from the 2010 - 2011 shipyard period directly to the start of the 2013 deployment, completely omitting it. The 2012 deployment was from June 7, 2012 to about mid-December of 2012. Then a quick turnaround to the February 22, 2013 deployment mentioned.
https://www.public.navy.mil/airfor/cvn69/Pages/History.aspx
Here is a page that proves the 2012 deployment existed, but it only has the return time of December 2012.

The site above says the 2012 deployment ended December 19, 2012. Sounds about right. We were home just before Christmas. I am going to add the 2012 deployment, supported by these two sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BeyondTheStars1990 (talk • contribs) 04:32, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
