There are a number of alternative names used for USB Flash drives with no commonly recognized term emerging. The resulting confusion makes them more difficult for manufacturers to market and for consumers to research.
All of the following names (optionally prefixed with "USB") have been used. Some of the names are trademarks and are followed with the ™ symbol.

Dirty Finger – Operational slang reportedly used by ASIO /ASIS regarding a flash memory device concealed within the body

Keyfob – widely used in the Seattle area

Memory stick – derived from the common use of "stick" to describe a SIMM or DIMM ; not to be confused with the flash-based Sony Memory Stick
Mini drive – derived from the Iomega's brand "Iomega Mini"

Pen drive ™ – common and widely used in Brazil , India , Uruguay , Chile , Hungary and Poland
