Line up

[edit]

“Steven Abbot (Abbo) guitar, Steve Harle on drums, Paul Wilson vocals, and Martin (Segovia) Smith bass” My information is that the line up was: John Abbott (Abbo) vocals, Steve Harle on drums, Steve Spon guitar, and Martyn Smith (Segovia) bass. Later bass players were Lol, Dutch and Eddie Branch (Twiggy).

no , abbo's name is most definitely steven abbott. the line-up you give is that of the 2nd , 3rd and 4th singles (the first was made as a 3-piece , abbo on guitar/vocals and no spon). then segovia left and you had 2 stand-in bassists (lol and creetin k-os). then eddie branch joined as a full-time replacement , "dutch" is one of his nicknames. NPOV

[edit]

This article got tagged for NPOV... What should be changed, what should be kept?--Adrift* 23:35, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a massive fan of the band, and being well aware of their past history, I don't see anything really wrong with it at all. Perhaps an omission is some discussion of the influence they had on the whole then-burgeoning goth scene, as well as the massive help they gave to other struggling bands at the time? Otherwise the article is fine.

I'm a fan of the band as well, but i think the main problem is that the article comes off looking a bit too much like a fan page or a promo for the band.--Adrift* 23:07, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a few specific reasons why the article merits the POV tag at the moment:
  • "both effervescent waltzes of dark intent" - it may be in quotes, but as it doesn't say who said this (if anyone?) it looks biased.
  • "UK Decay’s splendid debut album" is obviously POV
  • "The influence UK Decay had on the emerging ‘Post punk’ and ‘Goth’ movements is well documented and cannot be underestimated." - If it's so well documented, a reference for this statement would be nice.
  • section titles like "When it all goes well, we go home ..." are not very suitable for encylopedic content.

5 - 1 = 3????

[edit]

In the band bio it says [numbers {} added]:

"UK Decay was born out of the ashes of another Luton band called The Resiztors, who had formed in 1978. The Resiztors' lineup consisted of guitarist {1} Steve "Abbo" Abbott, drummer {2} Steven David Harle, {3} bassist Martin "Segovia" Smith and vocalists {4} Ricky Smith and {5} Paul Wilson.[1] After Wilson's departure in the spring of 1979, the remaining three band members changed their name to UK Decay..."

So there were 5 guys in the Resiztors, if ONE left there were FOUR remaining members. It sounds like both vocalists left. I'd fix it but I don't know the correct info.

Also it should clarify if the Smiths were related or not. Lenbrazil (talk) 22:24, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
