38 not 39.

[edit]

Math isn't what needs to be used here. I asked John Morgan, a journalist for MMAjunkie and he said the UFC doesn't use the numbers at all. Also, TUF: China Finale is being marketed as that, and not Fight Night. UFC Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway is also known as TUF: China Finale meaning it doesnt get a number like the other fight nights so therefore it's skipped which means this event is in fact UFC Fight Night 38 like all the MMA media outlets label it as.--Imhungry4444 (talk) 14:32, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • UFC lists it as a "Fight Night" event on their site. The TUF Brazil and TUF Smashes events used the regular "UFC on FX" and "UFC on FUEL" numbering, and weren't called Finale events like with the U.S. editions. MMA sites are incorrectly referring to this as 38 instead of 39. I don't think it's distinct enough from the non-TUF Fight Nights to be separated from them, especially with the increasing number of TUFs the UFC is producing. Here's what I've posted on other Fight Night talk pages:

"The UFC is referring to the TUF China finale as "Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway", suggesting that it's a Fight Night event. It's the same with the TUF Nations finale with Bisping and Kennedy. Similarly, the TUF Brazil and TUF Smashes finale events were listed as "UFC on FX" or "UFC on FUEL", rather than as "The Ultimate Fighter Finale" like with the U.S. editions. Therefore, I think both foreign TUF finales should be counted in the numbered series of Fight Night events. Personally, I don't like usage of the numbers, and neither does UFC, but MMA websites do still use them and it's clear that most people on Wikipedia want to refer to them. Anyway, I changed the pages of all Fight Night events from TUF China finale onwards to include the finales in the numbering system, but Ppt1973 undid the edits." 82.3.69.175 (talk) 05:09, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The 23rd?

[edit]

Is it true that this event is on the 23rd of March? That would indicate that it is on a Sunday. Usually the Fight Night is on Saturdays. Are we certain that it isn't on the 22nd?

It is on the 23rd. The 22nd will be a big Motocross event on FS1, so UFN 38 will have to be on Sunday. You can go on UFC.com to confirm the date.17:48, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Imhungry4444 (talk)
