Why is there highways called US 11E and US 11W? --Patricknoddy 14:00, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)User:Patricknoddy User talk:Patricknoddy 9:57 July 26, 2004 (EDT)

Good question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.234.235 (talk) 07:25, January 12, 2006 (UTC)
This one actually is a decent question :P --SPUI (T - C) 12:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

US 11 is a north-south highway. As such, it splits into eastern and western segments in Northeast Tennessee. Thus, the designations "E" and "W" refer to branches of US 11, not direction.

Why does U.S. 11 only pass into Hagerstown? --Patricknoddy 14:04, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)User:Patricknoddy User talk:Patricknoddy 10:01 July 26, 2004 (EDT)

Why does U.S. 11 in Georgia only go across the state's northwest corner? --Patricknoddy 14:18, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)User:Patricknoddy User talk:Patricknoddy 10:15 July 26, 2004 (EDT)

Because it was the best route, probably. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.234.235 (talk) 07:25, January 12, 2006 (UTC)

Yes, a separate article should be created for US 11 in Louisiana. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.234.235 (talk) 07:25, January 12, 2006 (UTC)

Auto trails

It's strange that such a major route didn't have an auto trail north of New Market. It's probably because the trails wanted to serve major cities like Washington. But that doesn't explain through Alabama. --NE2 04:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Quebec shield

An IP user starting with 75.47 is attempting to remove the Quebec shield for the junction at the Canadian border. His first revert claimed that he was doing it for fair use, his second was blank, and his third revert (so far) claimed that he was doing "cleanup". I'd like him to explain his edits here rather than pursuing an edit war. RussNelson (talk) 21:33, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Split sections

The sections for Louisiana and Mississippi in the route description are too detailed and should be included in state-detail pages. Dough4872 (talk) 14:46, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

YES!!!--agree. I said so above before I noticed this comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.61.250.254 (talk) 18:48, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree, but LA and MS need to be summarized after the splits are finished. It serves no purpose to have a state-detail article match the national article verbatim. --Fredddie 21:57, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Verification

@Dough4872: that was awfully quick to verify all of that in the given source, I know I would have taken the better part of two hours to do that. Whats your secret? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 00:02, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
