Error in the 1944 photo caption

[edit]

The caption says it is a westward looking photo, this is about 140 degrees off. That photo is taken from a aircraft to the Southwest of the base, with the camera pointing East Northeast. I used to fly into TAFB nearly everyday for nearly three years. Need more validation, look at a modern photo or in Google Earth. You will see the SW - NE runway remnants (it is actually a closed taxiway now) and the northern taxiway is the Hot Pad now. Cessnac172r (talk) 00:03, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Must be mighty quiet on the flightline these days

[edit]

Remember visiting the base for the first time in 1981 - besides TDY a/c, there were squadrons of T-33s, F-101Bs, and F-106s, not to mention a ramp full of PQM-102s (think those were still around). Was there for WT 82, 84, 86, and 94 too when the place was really hopping with a dozen teams of F-4s, F-15s, F-16s, and CF-18s on top of all the local birds and TDY targets. Can't imagine how slow things are now with just one squadron of F-22s permanently stationed there (and maybe some QF-4s) - there's got to be more airplanes on poles around PC than sitting on the ramp... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.48.11 (talk) 12:29, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, the two F-22 squadrons are the 43rd and 95th (yes, Mr. Bones is back as of 11 Oct 2013). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 22:54, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
