Anybody know how this name is pronounced? I'm partial to read it like "chan", while one friend pronounces it "tie-ann" and another calls it "tee-ann". Anybody know?

TIE-ANN
Everyone who works or worked for Tyan knows the name as being pronounced "tie-ann", although we always get the same question at every trade show on the name... Dr. Chang (former owner) calls it "tie-ann". Why would he know how to say the name?... The company is named after his birthplace! Here's an inside joke... we've had people call it "Taiwan Computer" (can't blame them, a good portion of engineering is in Taiwan and its a close enough pronunciation), so we'd sometimes say that we work for "Taiwan Computer"... - chaostheorem - 07:44 - 5 October 2008

tyan.com?

[edit]

All I get (yesterday) on tyan.com is "under construction, this site parked at Network Solutions". The parent company's site www.mitac.com/micweb/default.htm still links to tyan.com as if it were valid, though.

Today, this is now returning tyan.com/GenericErrorPage.aspx for all pages. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 17:56, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happens seldom, but does happen...
Tyan runs their web services through a third party, and I've seen this before. Happens rarely though. I've seen these kind of error messages at supermicro.com as well. - chaostheorem - 07:39 - 5 October 2008

True, if they actually hosted the site on Tyan-made servers, it would more likely not respond at all, I'd expect. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 20:18, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly...
You must be a former Tyan colleague of mine. :) - chaostheorem - 03:13, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
