Second sentence incorrect?
[edit]It says that the twenty fourth air force will be a component of the Air Force Cyber Command, but they are going to the Space MAJCOM.. I figured since this was new news that no one had changed this yet, but the news is months old and this line is still the second sentence of the article. Should it be changed? --Megastealer (talk) 22:56, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- The article says United States Cyber Command, which is different from the now discarded Air Force Cyber Command. --Pmsyyz (talk) 03:06, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Emblem
[edit]May want to recheck the information about the 24th AF Shield. AFNIC is retaining their legacy shield from AFCA and the scroll will be changed to reflect the new name. I have seen one picture of the proposed 24th AF shield and it contains items from the AACS shield. I'll have to see if I can find the graphic.75.132.220.10 (talk) 21:30, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps it is more appropriate to use the Air Force Space Command shield, since AFSPC is the parent MAJCOM, until the Air Force reveals an official shield for 24AF.Preuninger (talk) 15:42, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
- I added the new one. --Pmsyyz (talk) 00:53, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
624th Operations Center
[edit]If the scope of the command is large enough and publicly documented, it could still stand on it's own as an article and be listed as a subordinate unit in the 24th AF article. Col. Stephen Luxion was the 608th AOC commander. Is Luxion commander of 624th Operations Center? The 624th Operations Center seems to report directly to the 24th Air Force. It should probably be referenced in the 24th AF article as a reporting unit.
The other listed units are wings. I had not yet had the follow through to find the commands reporting to the wings. Rbcwa (talk) 04:59, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
24th or Twenty-Fourth
[edit]It would appear that 24th is the Common Name. I propose a move. Thoughts? Sephiroth storm (talk) 20:39, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose - It's been almost seven months, but I'll throw my two cents in. I oppose moving for two reasons. The first is consistency. The Wikipedia article titles for other Numbered Air Forces have the numbers spelled out. Second, the official name is spelled out because Air Force regulations (AFPD 38-5, Unit Designations, paragraph A1.2.2.2) prohibit the use of Arabic or Roman numerals in designating Numbered Air Forces (despite inconsistent use on various Air Force websites). Merger proposal
[edit]I recommend merging Air Force Cyber Command (Provisional) into Twenty-Fourth Air Force because most of the proposed command's history is already recorded on the 24AF page, the proposal is defunct and there will likely be no new developments, the command's abbreviation (AFCYBER) now refers to the 24AF just like the names of the other Component Numbered Air Forces (e.g., AFTRANS for 18AF, AFPAC for 13AF, etc.), and 24AF is performing the mission originally intended for AFCYBER as the Air Force component of the United States Cyber Command so discussion of mission is redundant. Preuninger (talk) 00:58, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Eh, my choice would be to keep them separate. They have different lineages. It would be weird talking about the one's linage in the page of a different org. --Pmsyyz (talk) 03:38, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Seperate - AFCYBER is a historical unit; 24AF is current. There was no redesignation Bwmoll3 (talk) 13:13, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Cyber Vision 2025
[edit]http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/library/news/2012/07/sec-120719-afns01.htm
Should this be the page for current USAF Cybermen activities in general, or should there be a separate Cyber Vision 2025 page? Hcobb (talk) 03:56, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Major General Suzanne M. Vautrinot
[edit]I removed the external link to the unit's commander USAF bio page in the infobox and added it to the External links section. I suggest you Lackland boys create her a dedicated WP page before re-adding the link. Axelode (talk) 20:27, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
