Power Tumbling Merge

[edit]

They're two very different things, I say the articles should stay separate.—DMCer 06:15, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tumbling is an activity, and power tumbling is a sport involving tumbling and taking it to a very high level of competition. But tumbling can be rolling, doing handstands, floor gymnastics, and other skills that are not included in Power Tumbling. 12.227.137.241 (talk) 01:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Mark, Living Sensation Gymnastics[reply]

Merge: FIG calls the sport Tumbling FIG website not Power tumbling which is a local variant as far as I can tell. Dabbler (talk) 15:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kiara Knowlin

[edit]

While she is an excellent power tumbler, she is really more of a youtube sensation then a truely notable cheerleader/tumbler. Shes only 16 and never been to the Olympics. Im not really sure she deserves notable status —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kirsten5400 (talkcontribs) 02:18, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Competitive Tumbling Merge

[edit]

There is yet another page about the sport Competitive tumbling which has a merger proposal and a consensus from a few respondents to merge with this page. Dabbler (talk) 11:21, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tumbling as an Olympic demonstration event

[edit]

In this revision, the claim that tumbling was included in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics as demonstration events was added without citation. This is conflicting with the Olympics' own source that they officially discontinued demonstration sports in 1996. I cannot find any source backing up this claim, so I will remove it, but if anyone has more information on what might have been intended, please post here! --Nolandanley (talk) 04:29, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A note on spelling conventions

[edit]

As I have been editing this page, I have noticed a lack of consistency from reliable sources regarding the spelling of certain skills and particularly the latinization of gymnasts' names. Where possible, I have used the spelling I can find used by the FIG. Even still, there are internal inconsistencies, such as whipback vs whip back (spelling from CoP and website respectively), round-off vs round off (5 instances in the 2017 CoP vs 2 respectively), and Rudy vs Rudi (15 vs 7 respectively). In these cases I use the spelling of the CoP, and where inconsistent in the CoP I use the more frequent spelling. Nolandanley (talk)

Tumbling (gymnastics)Tumbling (sport) – This article is about the sport of tumbling/power tumbling, not the activity of tumbling done in various genres of gymnastics. Tumbling in gymnastics more often refers to tumbling in the more popular sport artistic gymnastics, for example in the floor exercise. There are also other forms of tumbling in gymnastics, such as freestyle tumbling, which are not part of the scope of this article. (t · c) buidhe 05:48, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
