[edit]It was suggested that the article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies and organizations.
The article has been changed to 'golf club or course-related'.
It was suggested that a citation be added in the Course section for 'The grounds of Tuam Golf Club and much of the surrounding lands are designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary.'
There is no directory of wildlife sanctuaries in Ireland. Land-owners may designate their property as a 'wildlife sanctuary' with signage on their property, as in the case with Tuam Golf Club. Poshpaddy (talk) 14:00, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. To carry on the conversation from my talk page:
- RE: "changed to golf club or course-related". I am not certain what is meant by this. Was this a change to the stub type? If so, can you help me understand how this might address any notability concerns? As was pointed out, to address the concern on notability, all we really need is some additional cites from non-local sources (concerns relative to WP:CLUB and WP:SIGCOV would be addressed with extra non-trivial non-local sources).
- RE: "Wildlife Sanctuary status claim can't be cited or verified". If that's the case, then we can address by simply removing the claim. It is fundamental to the WP:VER guidelines (and the core tenets of the project) that unsubstantiated assertions be removed. (Why the push to include the claim? I am not certain what it adds to the article. Except possibly to be a little "promotional" in tone. If that's the driver, then I would note a recent acknowledgement that past "promotion" wasn't ideal, and a commitment to avoid promo tone in (or abstention from) articles relating to Western Webs or its customers.)

This is nothing to do with promoting Tuam Golf Club, or Western Webs. There has been a huge initiative in the locality to promote environmental issues and wildlife issues in general. This initiative is supported by Tuam Golf Club to the extend that the club have reared wild ducks and released on an annual basis. Anything that can be done to discourage poachers and highlight that the club grounds are a wildlife sanctuary is all that is intended. I cannot really see what the issue is as this is just a statement of fact. Regards, Poshpaddy (talk) 11:23, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. That's all very laudable, but "statements of fact" should be supported by verifiable reference. It's as simple as that. You may want to read WP:BUTITSTRUE. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 11:52, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
