Merriam-Webster definition is better than other link's. "Carre" is the edge of a sword or so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.197.248.37 (talk) 00:40, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First paragraph is unclear.

[edit]

It is unclear what the word "this" is referring to in the first paragraph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.170.75.154 (talk) 22:14, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First paragraph is worse than unclear.

"A trocar ... is a medical device that is made up of an obturator (which may be a metal or plastic sharpened or non-bladed tip), a cannula (basically a hollow tube), and a seal"

Well obturator links to "(surgery) An object used to obstruct a hole, such as a fissure of the palate.".

So a trocar is defined as 'a seal (which may be sharpened metal or plastic), a tube and a seal', which makes little sense.

My best guess is that by obturator, what is meant is a seal that can be opened (but then the seal on the other end must be openable) once the sharp part has penetrated the skin (or whatever).

ː fixed ǃ replaced the "obturator" by "awl" which makes more sense ǃ--Uruk (talk) 13:00, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The correct terminology is obturator. If you are unsure, do not edit. --42.200.221.66 (talk) 07:58, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Whoever wrote the article (article) loved putting little explanations (like this) in brackets, which is both lazy (less effort than writing a new sentence) and hard to read (as you can tell (from reading this)). -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 00:31, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
