Donkey picture

[edit]

I'm neither named Trina nor a female, but I find using the picture of a donkey (or whatever it is) to illustrate the name Trina to be offensive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.164.76.91 (talk)

Sorry about that; it was vandalism. I've removed it. The Anonymouse (talk | contribs) 01:00, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Scandinavian origin?

[edit]

I cannot find any references confirming that Trina is of Scandinavian origin. For example, both Árni Dahl, Navnabókin (2005) and Roland Otterbjörk, Svenska förnamn (1979) refer to this name as a short form of names ending with -trina, -trine or -trin. The Scandinavian names that have these endings are: Katrin/-a/-e, Petrin-a/-e and Astrine. Only the latter has Scandinavian origin, but this is a very rare dialect form of Astrid, and is not likely to be the origin of Trina. Mollerup (talk) 09:23, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
