I don't understand why the article switches from tangent to sin/cos in the calculation section of the page. The calculation starts with the equation: l = d/tan a +d/tan b. Simply getting a common denominator and solving for d results in the equation: d=(l x tan a x tan b)/(tan a +tan b), with no need for trig identities.

Seems like this article should be about the location of the target, not the distance. Location is the primary purpose of triangulation in surveying. Nick (talk) 22:20, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
