President Trump's pardon was purely symbolic
[edit]By law, see e.g. United States v. Wilson, 32 U.S. (7 Pet.) 150 (1833), a pardon must be delivered to and accepted by the pardonee; or if the pardonee is deceased, the deed of pardon may be accepted by an heir or representative of the estate. Otherwise, the pardon is a purely symbolic gesture. Since the pardon offered by President Trump was not accepted by any representative of the late Susan B. Anthony, it was purely symbolic and had no legal effect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:645:C300:3950:781E:2254:F1CC:3E58 (talk) 04:53, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
